Dodik's "pride" will cost Serbs and Republika Srpska dearly
Sanctions were applied to the president of Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, because his actions were first active violation of the Constitutional court decision in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), and this step will have significant consequences, said the USA ambassador, Maureen Cormack. And while Dodik said, on the press conference, that these sanctions are against him and not against Republika Srpska, at the same time politicians and analysts are marking that RS will feel the consequences of sanctions.

Commenting on the measures that USA applied, Milorad Dodik said that he feels proud and that he doesn't see the sanctions as a punishment.
Even though he doesn't see them as punishment, American ambassador said that sanctions against Dodik are important step. She said that they decided this because USA takes their role seriously, that they should protect Dayton Agreement, but also because of the fact that USA strongly supports BiH's European path.
She announced that USA will continue to support RS though series of programs within USA embassy, as well BiH to accomplish their goals, and those are Euro-Atlantic integrations.
Cormack, however, had no information if other states will do the same, but she especially emphasized that this step was coordinated with closest partners.
Borislav Bojovic, vice president of Serbian Democratic party, is worried precisely because of that. He believes that USA won't remain lonely in sanctions against Dodik.
- I am sorry that RS will suffer consequences of sanctions because i am not sure USA will remain lonely in all of this - said Bojic.
He stresses that this inflicts damage to RS reputation, repeating that he feels sorry for the citizens of RS the most.
Political analyst Vladimir Goati said for Telegraf that he is afraid the RS itself will be under US sanctions, because Dodik is the main creator of politics in this entity,
- That is something that is not good. I am afraid that Dodik underestimated this negative and huge thing with his behavior - said Goati.
Since Serbia won't join sanctions, according to prime minister Vucic, that could have some negative points on Euro integrations of our country, mentions Goati.
Goati bases his thinking on, as he said, statements of president Tomislav Nikolic, who under international law embodies Serbia. What he said is a support to Dodik, considers the analyst.
- We are lucky because Aleksandar Vucic is on the head of Serbia, a calm, moderate politician, expressly European, who unlike other representatives of political elites can rise from trivial and electoral interests, but is able to work for the interest of Serbia - said analyst of our portal.
Goati reiterates that the overall situation, with increased tensions in the region, can be a very negative impact on the Republika Srpska and Serbian people. He notes that this is a realistic estimation, which is probably not at the will of the political elite in Banjaluka.
