Snow, rain, stormy winds, somewhere with hurricane strength, and minus temperatures are again threatening the countries in the region.  

DALMATIA CUT OFF FROM CROATIA: Hurricane-force winds and snowdrifts blocked all major roads

Red alarm is again in some parts of Croatia, Dalmatia is completely cut off, storm winds blowing 200 kilometers per hour, citizens are warned not to go on a road without utmost need. The worst situation is on Kvarner, Istria and north Dalmatia.

Orange alarm is issued throughout the country for snow, while red alarm will be most certainly in Kvarner, Istria and Dalmatia.

The worst situation will be around Rijeka, where the storm is expected of hurricane strength, and especially under Velebid. The strongest wind gusts will reach 145 kilometers. There will be snow and ice on the same area, especially near the coast.

The height of snow should be 5-10 centimeters, which, in combination with ice, could cause problems in traffic.

- Weather is very dangerous and it presents high level of health hazard, even life threatening, especially to the people living near the coast. Of course, there is a significant risk of possible damage for the coast infrastructure. Be aware of the danger and pay attention to the latest weather reports. We advise the public to avoid travel and staying near the endangered coastal areas. It is most likely that the ferries won't operate if you travel, follow the information about traffic - warning from Meteoalarmfor Kvarner and the area below Velebit.

There are currently no roads open for cargo vehicles with or without a trailer towards Dalmatia or vice versa, and for trucks with trailers and semitrailers from the interior of the country towards Istria, Rijeka, northern coast and vice versa. The snow is making driving difficult in Gorski Kotar, Lika, Slavonia and central and northwest Croatia, and ice is possible due to low temperatures.

Drivers are advised to adapt their speed and the way they drive to the conditions on the road, and not to go without winter equipment, and if possible to postpone their travel.

The snow is slowing down traffic on most of the roads since this morning in Bosnia in Herzegovina. Especially in mountain roads. Low temperatures are forming ice, especially in higher areas, and on bridges and tunnel entries.

Road service teams are intervening on all roads where necessary, and BIHAMK is appealing on drivers to use maximum caution, and not to travel without winter equipment.

Border crossing Delelusa (Bileca-Niksic) has been closed for cargo vehicles due to bad weather conditions in Montenegro.

Also, due to bad weather conditions in Croatia, traffic for all cargo vehicles with trailers is suspended on border crossing Izacic. The wait on other border crossing is not longer than 30 minutes.

Even thought the snow is falling in Republika Srpska for the second day in a row, Civilian protection says that the situation is not critical and that everything is under control.

They stress from Civilian protection that there is snow on the roads, but the competent services started removing it during the night, and they have been doing it entire morning.

They say from the Auto-Moto associtation of Srpska that the traffic is forbiden for cargo vehicles over the mountain range Crni Vrh, on the highway Zvornik-Tuzla, and for cargo vehicles with trailers over Romania.

The traffic is going very slowly on most roads in Srpska this morning from additional snowfall, but the most important thing is that all highway and regional roads are open.

Meteorologists forecast that the snow will fall today in most parts of Srpska, while there will be sleet and rain in Herzegovina.

The snow is falling in Macedonia, and the drivers are warned to use necessary winter equipment.
