Filip Filipovic chosen for the best water polo player in the world!

Captain of the water polo team of Serbia Filip Filipovic was elected player of the year in the traditional selection of the prestigious American magazine "Swimming World".

Filipovic was the best player at the Olympic Games in Rio, where Serbia won the long-awaited gold and completed all the titles, and at the end of December, he was named athlete of the year by the Olympic Committee of Serbia.

This is the second time in a row that Serbian player receives this prestigious award, since the best in 2015 was Dusko Pijetlovic.

- My team is responsible for this recognition. If it wasn't for their great contribution and great work of coaching staff i wouldn't be able to give such a good games. So, i have been rewarded, but this belongs to everybody. This recognition is another proof of the results we have accomplished in the previous year. We won so many awards that the better conformation of our success in 2016 is not necessary - said Filipovic, reported by his official site.

American Ashleigh Johnson was named the best female water polo player in 2016 for the third time.
