NEW YEAR'S GIFT FROM BRUSSELS: An additional 166.4 million euros for European integration

The European Union has decided to allocate an additional 166.4 million euros to support Serbia's accession to the EU and this grant will be used over the next three to four years, announced today by the EU Delegation in Serbia. Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport said that the new support for Serbia shows how the EU is serious about its European future.

GOOD NEWS FROM BRUSSELS: Possible opening of new chapters in February

This money will be used to boost competitiveness and innovation and support for small and medium-sized enterprises, support for local development, improving the quality of education, financing the Serbia's participation in EU programs, development of legislative and institutional capacities, enforcing standards and the EU accession negotiations.

The aid is intended for action plans of Serbia in the field of rule of law and fundamental rights, improvement of border management and migration control, and combating cross-border crime.

- With more than three billion euros in grants since 2001 and planned billion euros over the next four years, the EU is by far the biggest Serbian partner - said in a statement.

Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport said that the new support for Serbia shows how the EU is serious about its European future.

- We will continue to support the modernization of Serbia and we will bring concrete benefits to citizens - said Davenport.
