With unreasonable decisions and solutions for a retaining wall near the bridge over the Ibar River, Pristina wants to divert attention from their own problems - that the government is not stable, that in Kosovo, that the unemployment rate is 60 percent, the fact that early elections are approaching, says the Mayor of northern Kosovka Mitrovica Goran Rakic. If Pristina starts with unilateral moves, mayor Rakic points that local Assembly will adopt unilateral decisions.

He reminds that the deadline to open the bridge is January 20th, but also the constructions on roundabout and King Petar street has stopped, since the Kosovo Ministry of Physical Planning first issued the decision on the demolition of the retaining wall.

The mayor is explicit that the bridge won't be opened before the finish of construction of pedestrian zone in King Petar street and until the safety assumptions have been completed and opened for traffic.

- I hope that the International community is aware of the responsibility the bridge opening carries, because it is responsible for security and stability in the region. Therefore, we expect the EU and the whole international community to fulfill their promises and expectations of Serbs from the northern part of the city and not to allow Albanians to misinterpret the opening of the bridge and to start causing incidents - he says.
