Every night at midnight this city in Serbia is dying: No one to be found, nothing is working

Starting from today, besides weekend, no tavern, bakery shop, or newsstand won't be able to work past midnight.

Councilors of the City Assembly brought a new decision on working hours, despite the protests of Valjevo hospitality workers.

With this decision, buffets, pizza places, taverns, coffee shops, pastry shops, dairy and express restaurants, grills will all have work hours from 7 AM to 12 PM, and objects in the resident buildings will work even shorter - on workday till 11 PM, and on Friday and Saturday till 12 PM.

Work hours of coffee - bars, restaurants and taverns will be till midnight, and on Friday and Saturday they can work from 9 PM till 12:30 after midnight.

The proposal to shorten the working hours of caterers came after the crime scene at the club "ZIP" on October 30 when 25-year-old Damjan Dragojlovic was killed, and three other people were wounded. The city government has estimated that the hardest incidents in Valjevo are occurring two hours after midnight.

Valjevo hospitality workers protested because of this decision by the city government, but none of the leaders of Valjevo heard them, even though a petition was signed by 140 people. Competent inspections are intensively checking all restaurants and bars, and police joins during the weekend.
