TEENAGERS TAKE SEDATIVES BECAUSE OF LOVE: Children in Macedonia seek consolation in tranquilizers

Every tenth teenager takes sedatives on their own and mostly because of the love problems.

Girls are using most of the sedatives, and mostly because of the love problems or to "relax" before the testing in school. 

These are the conclusions of the research of the Macedonian Institute for Public Health, survey was taken from 82 secondary schools and 2,430 students ages 15 and 16 years.

The number of children in Macedonia who use sedatives is increased from year to year and it is twice as high as compared to European standard.

Doctors, the specialist of social medicine point out that they are concerned with the increased use of sedatives among young, and what is more concerning is that those drugs are given to them by their parents, without consulting the doctors, so they can "help" their children to reduce the stress before school testing or because of the love problems.
