After the recent fuel price increases, drivers in Serbia are waiting for a new blow to the wallet. It is almost certain the toll on highways will be more expensive for 10 % at least. That decision is very close, confirmed by the Director of public company "Roads of Serbia" Zoran Drobnjak.

Highway toll

According to the prices that "Putevi Serbije" recommended to the government, the toll on the road Belgrade - Nis, from current 730 dinars, will be 800. Using the road Belgrade - Sid, instead of current 340, will be 370 dinars, and for Belgrade - Subotica, the toll will be 320 from the current 290 dinars.

Electricity

Finally, during 2017 the citizens can expect another jump in the price of electricity. Although this has not been officially confirmed, the growth of electricity prices in the next year is planned agreement with the IMF, and thus will continue to comply with the prices of this energent in Europe. Unofficially speculated, current prices, in fact, are so low that they do not attract any foreign company to enter the Serbian market of electrical energy, leaving the monopoly to Elektroprivreda Serbia.

If we strictly follow the instructions of Brussels, the prices of our brandy and whiskey would have to be the same, meaning our liquor will have become more expensive for 192 dinars per liter. This price adjustment is the result of warnings from the European Commission, which believes that the excise policy in the spirits sector favors domestic alcoholic drinks, which is not in accordance with the principles of Brussels.

Coffee and cigarettes

The increase in price of cigarettes will go gradually, according to some announcements, the excise calendar will be made for the next four years. The prices will be adjusted twice a year like before. Namely, in EU, the minimum excise on cigarettes is 90 euros on 1.000 cigarettes, while in Serbia it is 50 euros. It is certain that citizens of Serbia expect the higher price of coffee when the new harvest arrives for production. Manufacturers of coffee, however, don't know how more expensive the black brew will be, but they agree that the decision was inevitable starting from January next year.
