Almost identical situation is in Bosilegrad, other municipality with mostly Bulgarian people, young people from Pirot, Leskovac, Vranje and from other cities from the southeast of Serbia chose to go and study there .
According to Dejan Mileva, municipal councilors in charge of education and information in Dimitrovgrad, and Vice-president of the National Council of Bulgarians in Serbia, the interest in the study in Bulgaria does not subside, and for this - along with numerous benefits - there are very specific reasons.
- Those who choose to study in Bulgaria, on the third or fourth year of studies, they start to work and to earn, meaning becoming economically independent. With hundred Levs, around 50 euros, which they receive form Bulgarian government, which they get in the name of development of their fellow countrymen, symbolic rents in student dormitories, the money they earn extra is quite enough for schooling. They practically do not burden their parents... As far as i know, there are most of them who graduate in Bulgaria gets a job quickly and remain there - said Milev, mentioning that Bulgarian university diplomas are recognized in the European Union, and for many future doctors, engineers, pharmacists, electronics, architects and experts from other professions that also provides additional motivation, reports "Vecernje Novosti".
Otherwise, studying in Bulgaria practically starts when the National Council of Bulgarians in Serbia and grammar schools organize preparation for the entrance exam, in which seniors with an average higher than "very good" have additional privileges.
- Graduates pass the history and native language exams, they are shown interest that they can choose, and they make a list of five wishes. To take the entrance exam, they are prepared by university professors from Bulgarian college, and if they pass they automatically become students - explains Milev, who successfully studied himself in Bulgaria.
NEAR VICINITY IS CRUCIAL
The system of education in Diaspora compatriots in Bulgaria has started to be implemented in 1993 and has since there has been a symbolic number of those who have started studying, but gave up. In addition to rapid employment and so often quoted benefits, studying is getting cheaper and the fact that the Sofia is much closer to Dimitrovgrad and Bosilegrad than the university centers in Serbia, such as Nis and Belgrade.
