SERBIAN FIAT ARRIVES TO EURASIA: All barriers down for duty-free import models from Kragujevac
Minister of Economy Goran Knezevic confirmed that the last barrier is down for duty-free export of Fiat in the Eurasian region, because Kazakh Minister of National Economy Kuandik Bisimbajev at today's meeting pledged that the country would give their vote for it at the next Council of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Knezevic told reporters after the first session of the Intergovernmental Serbo-Kazakh Commission for trade economic cooperation held in the Palace of Serbia, as far as it goes from Serbian side, everything has been settled a long time ago.
We waited for all barriers to fall down , and Minister Bisimbajev promised that Kazakhstan Council of the Eurasian Union will strive for it. When the Council adopted a decision, all that remain now are technical reasons and conditions. But, i think that the last obstacle disappeared and the export of Fiat is enabled in this countries - said Knezevic.
On the journalist comment that the country was against the duty-free import of Fiat until now, protecting its own production, Bisimbajev said that Fiat is not a direct competition.
- Lately, we in Kazakhstan recorded a growth of the automotive industry and production, after addressing of the Serbian side we considered their request. Your cars are not direct competition to our production, so we made the decision to support the free export or import in our region - he said.
According to him, since the final decision is taken at a meeting of the Eurasian Commission, Kazakhstan will in this session to support this proposal.
