Tanja Miscevic: Croatian request does NOT have the EU support, OPENING OF CHAPTERS 23 AND 24 TODAY!
Croatia insisting on changing the law on regional jurisdiction for war crimes is bilateral demand, because consensus to ask request something like that from Serbia is not achieved on the level of European Union, stated the head of the negotiation team with European Union Tanja Miscevic.
McAllister: EU committed to enlargement to Western Balkans
Miscevic said that the chapters 23 and 24 will be opened today.
- After this, the situation in the negotiation process must not remain the same as before opening of the chapters. It is a sign that we are moving forward - said Miscevic for "Politika".
On the ascertainment that Croatia still demands on their request to change the law about regional jurisdiction for war crimes, she said that it is a bilateral request, because the consensus to ask something like that of Serbia has not been achieved on the level of EU.
Miscevic reminded that it has been often a topic between 27 members of the Union on one side, and Croatia on the other.
- That agreement has not been achieved, since they haven't the rights on that in this area of EU, and as well of the fact that many states regulate the law in the same way Serbia regulates the jurisdiction for processing of war crimes. We claimed from the start that it is a question for bilateral talks, so i hope they will be continued in that context - said Miscevic.
