With traditional reception in the residence of American ambassador in Belgrade, national holiday was marked, 4th of July, the Independence day, and the ambassador Kyle Scot said that the USA shares the same goals with Serbia that are embedded in the Declaration of Independence signed 240 years ago.

- Dear president, dear guests, i wish you happy Independence day. I wish to thank the children's choir "Carolija", and to everybody that helped to realize this reception. We celebrated the 240 years since American people became independent, and all great desires demand commitment. It took us seven years of fighting to accomplish what we wanted, to achieve freedom. And we still work on our dream. We Americans, celebrate 4th July with our friends, just like tonight, with Serbian friends. For life, freedom and strive for happiness. Thank you all for coming and cheers - said Kyle Scot in the introductory speech on the reception on Serbian and English language.

The reception regarding 240 years since America gained independence was attended by Serbian president Tomislav Nikolic, prime minister Aleksandar Vucic, president of parliament Maja Gojkovic, minister of foreign affairs Ivica Dacic, minister for European integrations Jadranka Joksimovic and minister of defense Zoran Djordjevic.

There were also the patriarch of Serbian Orthodox Church and the members of other religious communities, the president of the provincial government Igor Mirovic, the director of the office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric, representatives of the diplomatic core, representatives of the public and cultural life of Serbia.

Scot pointed out in his addressing that 240 years have passed since the founders of America declared new State and adopted the Declaration committed to the universal human rights of dignity, democracy and economic progress.

The independence day is traditionally celebrated in America on picnics, with hot dogs, burgers, so the guests in residence had the opportunity to enjoy the American food of McDonald's and KFC brands and various drinks.

After the begging of the reception, marines handed the flag to the ambassador of the USA, and the American anthem was sung but the embassy official Steve Rider, while the Serbian anthem was performed by the children's choir "Carolija". In the rest of the evening, guests could enjoy the music of Touch and Go band.
