Exactly 25 years ago, this young man explained the MEANINGNESS OF WAR IN FORMER YUGOSLAVIA (VIDEO)

On this day, 25 years ago, corporal Bahrudin Kaletovicbar from Tuzla answered the question on a simple and honest way, "do you know why is this war about, this battle?". He confusedly said that he doesn't know why is this about and that "they want to be on their own, we sorta don't let them", and he gathered lots of sympathy among the people.

This lad has said something in the heat of Yugoslavia breakdown what the entire nation felt and thought. Rarely anyone knew what is the war about and what/who wants their freedom. 

He was a member of the Yugoslavian army (JNA) in 1991 and in Slovenia he became one of the symbols of the conflict. In early hours on 27th June, 306. Light Artillery Regiment PVO 10. corps crossed the Slovenian border near Metlika, only to be attacked right away by the members of the Territorial defense (TO) of Slovenia.

News reporter Ivica Puljic interviwed Bagrudin on 27th June 1991 on the line of fire in Krakovski Gozd while he was lying on the ground, holding his position. That two minute video entered the collective memory of all Yugoslavs. 

Ivica Puljic: "What are the conditions?"

Bahrudin Kaletovic: "Fu*ed up, that's how."

Ivica Puljic: "Do you know who are you fighting against?"

Bahrudin Kaletovic:"I have no clue, i only know that they are shooting at us and nothing more. These territorials are shooting, fu*k it, who else."

The reporter continues and asks the question if they know what is this was about. "How should i know. If i get it right they want to be apart and we sorta don't let them. Actually we only want to be back to the barracks and nothing more", answered 19 year old boy from Tuzla.

Bahrudin was held captive for some time but they treated him well. He was then sent to Djakovo to serve the rest of his military service. He was captured yet again and released to freedom on 29th November 1991.

He got married in 1993 and got a little girl Esmeralda and a son Damir. He dreamed of becoming a musician and he played a guitar. He unfortunately lost his life in a traffic accident in 1998. when he went to Tuzla to visit his family and newborn son.
