Marijuana based drugs became legal in Macedonia yesterday, and they joined group of at least twenty European countries that already approved the use of those products for certain patients.

A NEW DRUG HAS ARRIVED IN SERBIA: Parents, get dry cough syrup away from your children!

Medications that have less than 0.2 % of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main psychoactive component of marijuana, can now be prescribed by doctors and bought in pharmacies, told the director of Macedonian agency for medications Marija Darkovksa - Serafimovska for the press.

- This will help a great number of  Macedonian citizens that are fighting with serious diseases and who need treatment with products based on natural basis - she said.

These medications are available to patients that suffer from problems related with cancer, multiple sclerosis and epilepsy.

Products based on marijuana are, however, only available with supervision of the doctor and with prescription.

- This is not replacement for medical treatment - said the Macedonian Health minister Nikola Todorov after the acceptance of the new law in May that allows the selling of marijuana based medications, after many months of public discussion.

According to the Macedonian law, the use of marijuana in any other purpose is still illegal.

So far 13 countries members of EU legalized the use of marijuana based medications, and among them are Austria, GB, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Spain, reminds Franch agency.
