President Zarko Jokanovic said then that the problem should be solved as soon as possible, because the season is about to begin.
- Sewage installations which were unprofessionally placed five years ago in the peer have been letting its content away into the sea. Unbearable smell and faeces in summer heats leave ugly picture of once a jewel of the Adriatic sea - warned Jokanovic in the letter to the authorities.
"We are witnesses that the faeces is being dumped in night on summer, and we alarmed the public before, and media wrote about it Locals, fisherman watch the problem which is suffocating and poisoning us. Unfortunately, we are waiting for it to solve on its own. NVO activists were cleaning for years the the beach from the degradable waste. Now we are not able to keep it clean without inappropriate protection, because the faeces are poured in the stream and when the tank is full, directly in the sea".
Jokanovic said that they are facing a crater for the past few days which spreads unbearable smell, which describes the sloppiness of the authorities.
"We are searching for a urgent solution for this five year old problem, a by no means harm and damage to the tourists and the citizens. There is little time, and no hope left. The season is starting, and Petrovac, instead smelling like pine forest and the sea- smells like ammonia. We wonder what are the people like in the country that poison themselves and the sea"...
Let us remind ourselves, last year in Herzeg Novi, there was a problem with faeces, because the sea often brought waste. Even thought one couldn't see it with naked eye, because the sea and the salt broke it down, you could smell it badly. Many tourists ended up in hospital and on IV due to strong virus that manifested through diarrhea and vomiting.
- I have been through hell last year, I was in Herceg Novi and i first started vomiting, and then having diarrhea. I could not go outside of the apartment, i had a fever. I had to get an urgent infusion. My brother's children got sick as well. It all lasted for a few days, and that's why i don't have any intentions of going there again and risk such a torture - said for Telegraf Dragana S. (27) from Kacarevo.
