WONDER IN CROATIA: They wanted to expand the parking, but they found an amazing discovery
In the Croatian city Trogir, a Roman tomb from the first century has been discovered, and the findings so far imply that it is a tomb of wealthy class of people.
Archaeological research of the Roman tomb with 30 graves, that has been discovered 15 days ago when the family Bilic was expanding the parking in the Put Dragulina street, is still going on.
At that occasion, under the planted olive trees on the depth of 1-2 meters, in 20 square meters, 4 stone urns and few tomb stones were found. The family immediately got in touch with the Trogir museum and the curator of Archaeological collection, Lujana Paraman, went to the field.
- In one of the urns there was a glass balsamary, and with the bones of the diseased of the other urn a bronze needle. The density of the graves could be seen by the remains of the wall bases, where, at first 3 more graves were visible with the remains buried in stone urns and a damaged stone plate, which turned out to be a cover for the grave of the exhumed decedent, who is a bit younger, probably from the second century, said Lujana, adding that this a remarkable find and it is the oldest graveyard in the Trigor area.
