A symbol of a tragic suffering during the NATO bombing of Serbia in 1999. was a little Milica Rakić (3). on 17. april she lost her life in a family home in Batajnica.

She was one of the 79 murdered children who were the biggest victims of the act "merciful angel".
Milica was only three when rocket shard fired from a NATO airplane struck her while she was in a bathroom sitting on her potty.
Lets recall, the little girl was born on 9th of January 1996. She died on 17th of April in 1999.
Her father Zarko testified that the scene was horrifying.
The bathroom was full of shards, that struck the house and tore down the wall with force of the impact.
- We lost her - those were the words he uttered when he took her all bloody in her hands. She had big wound on her crotch where she bled out, but also other serious injuries.
Soon after he took her to a nearby emergency room. Later the family (mother Dušica and brother Aleksa) found out that Milica lost her life over television.
The name of little Millica is strongly carved in the people. One street in Batajnica, as well as one in Novi Sad's suburb Veternig are now carrying her name. and recently a bust was renovated in Tasmajdan park that reminds of the death of 79 innocent children during the 78 days of bombing. Her countenance was painted in a monastery Tvrdos, and there were initiatives that she should be proclaimed a saint.
