Foundations for the new department store of IKEA at Bubanj potok are laid down today!

IKEA Company will officially mark the start the beginning of works on the first IKEA department store in Serbia at pay toll collection area Bubanj potok.

As announced from the Company, on the ceremony there will be speakers prime minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, deputy prime minister and minister of constructions Zorana Mihajlović, mayor of Belgrade Siniša Mali, managing director of the IKEA Company for southeast Europe Stefan Vanoverbeke and director in charge of development of IKEA Company for southeast Europe Vladislav Lalić.

First department store of Swedish furniture manufacturer will be built at Bubanj potok and will extend to over 30.000 square meters.

This object will be 15 kilometers away from the Belgrade center and should be finished by the summer of the following year.

First stage of this project is worth 70 million Euros and it will employ 300 people.

IKEA has bought more land in Bubanj potok that it was needed to construct first department store, in the board of the company possibilities are being considered to do an additional investment of 70 to 80 million euros, where they will make retail park, or shopping center by the department store.

Retail park should extend to 40.000 up to 50.000 square meters and will hire 600 people in the object itself.

IKEA plans on building in Serbia total of five department stores, of which two in Belgrade, one in Novi Sad and one in Niš, and one in central Serbia.

At a highway near Belgrade a building of a pay toll “Vrčin” was started at the end of March, which will be used after the moving of a pay toll at Bubanj Potok, where will be the first department store of Swedish IKEA.

Pay toll "Bubanj potok" should me moved by the mid October, and the building of pay toll “Vrčin” should be worth 2.1 billion dinars.

IKEA is manufacturing economic and modern designed furniture.

Croatia welcomed their first store a little less than two years ago, and Romania too got their place to buy furniture which is assembled with a hex key.

Swedish Company has only one supplier from Serbia, and it is a bussines from Ćuprija and they make rolling pins and cutting boards.

Simpo was a IKEA partner for over than 20 years and they made childrens cribs, but the cooperation was halted due to financial difficulties in Simpo.
