THE MOST DANGEROUS PLACE IN THE BALKANS: Crime on every corner, where medicine workers wear BULLET PROOF VESTS
Doctors working in emergency centar in Kočevje commune in central Slovenia will wear bullet proof vests witch are usually worn by special unit of law enforcement. It is not a joke, it is a decition that was introduced because of safety risks in the environment where the crime is the highest in Slovenia, writen by Jutarnji.hr.
- Our doctors and other medical staff often meet with threats in their line of work, even with phisical violence - said the Head of emergancy centar Milena Vidmar Romič for lokal radio station Krka, commenting why they decided for such a drastic move.
Head people of Kočevje emergancy centar confirmed that they already ordered 4 pieces of bullet proof vests for their employees and every vests costs around 500 euro.
In that way, they say, they are planing to doctors, medical nurses and technician in ambulance and during intervetions on the field, give a sence of security because this equipement protects from cold and fire arms.
- Every day we encounter various types of threats and blackmails - said Vidar Romič.
Local police, however, said that situation is no that dramatic.
However, according to official statistic data of the police in that area of Slovenia, settled in the deep province, there is a high rate of unemploment and many addicts of drugs and alcohol. This area, according to the Jutarnji.hd, significantly differs from national average, when it comes to crime.
There is in average 59 criminal acts on 10.000 residents every year, and that puts Kočevje in the top of lists in whole state, it is the same with number of murders and murder attempts. Great number of phisical settlements has been recorded, thefts and violences over children, wich local residents claim to have came from gipsy community that lives in this town, however, experts say that it is a usual problem that has nothing to do with gypsies.
