"Protest against militarization and border closing" happened in the city center, in Knez Mihailova street.
All those who were helping refugees in their difficult times gathered to raise their voice against militarism and repression against migrants.
"Stop the war in Syria", "Stop the war in Iraq", "Stop the war in Afghanistan", "Solidarity", "Stop the war, not the people", "Closed borders - open doors for smugglers", "Europe 1938 = Europe 2016", "Terror over migrants has to stop" were just some of the messages from the protest in Belgrade center.
Running from wars, dictatorships, or just leaving their homes because of impossible life conditions migrants embark on a dangerous road wishing only for security and peace, but the torture goes on.
They travel on foot a lot, often without food or water, they have to sleep in the forests fighting against cold and difficult conditions, they get attacked by robbers, and they get tortured by the state police in different countries.
Demonstrators marched through the streets of London, Athens, Barcelona, Geneva, Vienna, Thessaloniki, Amsterdam, Zurich, and Luzerne.
In London, more than 4000 people joined the march carrying messages like "Refugees are welcome" and "Stand against racism".
Greek police stated that 1.500 people marched, and the media reported that there were more than 3.000.
Protestors, many of them Afghan refugees, shouted: "Open the borders", and "We are human beings, we have rights".
Protest held in Belgrade had the goal if solidarity against militarization, imperial wars, racist border control, barricades, deportation, detention, prison camps, and all other forms of violence against the freedom of movement for all.
Show solidarity and have understanding for the people running away from the war, political repression and poverty.
Help them if you can, be humane!
