A week ago, a photo was taken of her holding a baby which showed the best image of Serbian police.

We followed this story and decided to visit Olivera who works at the passenger control and passport control.

We wanted to know how does it look like to work at the border between Serbia and Macedonia, where the shift lasts 12 hours and free days are non-existent.

- I work on the borderline where refugees from Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan come daily. During my shift I work with 400-500 people. Among them there was the 6-month-old Asja with the pink cap. She was so sweet, I wanted to take her to my home. She was crying in her mother's arms, and I felt the need to take her up into my arms. The baby stopped crying, she even giggled a bit - she said and added that she monitored that family with hope that all their papers are fine so that they could travel further.

Olivera says that there is always some risk on the job, because of the dissatisfied men and women whose only goal is to pass the border and go to the EU.

- I have seen different situations, but it is the nature of the job and I cannot show emotions. I saw a kid, aged 3, falling completely into a puddle. Their parents drag them, they are all wet. Expectant mothers would faint, they are all standing in the rain - she described the conditions under which she works.

Another problem are the people who passed the border illegally, so they want to make a scheme.

- Some of them dress up, they put on caps, fake to be cripples, they buy crutches, fake being sick... Most of them do not know English, they are very scared and really uncooperative. A lot of things happen, but some nice moments also occur, like when I had a great talk with a 5-year-old from Syria, when we had a magic show, when they made a play for us - says this police officer, also stating the moment when a refugee reported missing 10.000 Euros in a field so they all went to search for it.

Now she is finally at home, and her 2 daughters are the happiest. How long she will stay in Belgrade will be decided according to the political situation on the borders.

- Now that the Balkans route is closed, along with the borders of some countries, I think that the situation will be better. The biggest problem is on the border between Greece and Macedonia, but until further notice, I will stay at the airport - concluded Despic.
