The leader of the protest was Vuk Drašković, a political opponent of Milošević, and about 100.000 people went that day on the street.

A photo of her standing went around the world thanks to the reporter Predrag Mitić.

She died in Belgrade on September 8, 2010, aged 60.

She left her two sons, a granddaughter and many relatives.

This was the woman whose bravery caused more damage than all the rocks, charges, and strong words.

This was the woman who stood in front of the cafe "Ruski car", completely alone, holding a purse, waiting for the water canon.

- I came back to my house around evening - she said later for the "Novosti" news agency. - I was still wet. We watched the tanks outside. Vuk Drašković was arrested. Then, I did not know that my photo will be widely known, that I will become a no-name symbol of the March 9.

When the leaders got out of the jail, Dragana was asked to join the protests and to deliver a speech. She showed how it was like to oppose the regime.

Her friend and co-fighter from the protests, Vuk Drašković, was devastated when he heard about her death:

- She was a symbol of bravery and freedom. She will live until Serbia remembers the protests on March 9, 1991. Democratic Serbia made a big mistake not honoring her, and not just her.
