Sow Gordana decided to take a longer nap on Candlemas holiday, and she did not go out of her cave, and according to the keepers of the Belgrade ZOO that means that winter in Serbia will not last.

Tales say that on Candlemas winter and spring meet.

Bear wakes up on this day and if a bear sees his shadow, he will get scared and will go back to the cave, which means winter would last for another six weeks.

But, if a bear does not see his shadow, he will remain outside, which means that hibernation period is over and that spring will soon start.

The only place in Belgrade where you can definitely see a bear is the ZOO, and the sow Gordana has been the model which decides whether winter will last or not.

Since this morning, February 15, was rather cloudy, Gordana did not see her shadow, but she did not leave her cave either.

She has been sleeping lately out of the cave, told us the keepers, but this morning she decided to go back.

If you do not trust her, meteorologists also think that frost during the day is a thing of the past and that we can expect warm weather during the day in February and March.
