This fortress has been under siege so far by Turks, Hungarians, and Serbs.
Workers found this invaluable scientific discovery while reconstructing the fortress on Danube river but it is still unknown who the arrows and spears belonged to because the excavations are carried out without the archaeologists from the Republic Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments.
In the Institute they explained that their colleague whose responsibility is the fortress is currently on sick leave.
The area inside the fortress is rich with archaeological material.
However, the experts never took an interest in the excavations until they resurfaced at the black market.
Then, they were instructed to better take care about the pieces and evidence found on the site because they will be punished if they do not.
The recent discoveries testify that they did not take this for granted.
Excavation works at the Golubac fortress are carried through the project restructuring funded by EU, through the Austrian development agency.
All the objects found until now and those that will be discovered in the future will become a part of the exhibition in the named fortress.
