They operate mostly through private households, but also near the mosques.

Their goal is to recruit the local Roma populace by presenting themselves as humanitarian workers in need of solidarity.

According to the "Večernje novosti" news agency, extremists from the Wahhabi support centers in Bosnia and the city of Novi Pazar also visit the suburban areas of Belgrade.

Radical teaching of Islam is being taught out of the Muslim local communities.

Local Roma people are the usual targets because they say they are Muslims but they do not live according to the rules of Quran.

The agitators present themselves as the members of  Islamic organization with the goal of helping destitute Islamic believers.

- After they get their trust, they start preaching about Wahhabi lifestyle. They promise money, job abroad, and education for the children. Those families they think are "suitable material" are being drawn away from the local mosques under the pretext that the Islamic community in Serbia is not preaching the true Islamic religion - says the source.

Residents of the areas where mosques are present do not want to speak when radical Islamist people are present, but they say they see more and more young people wearing short pants who wear recognizable beard pattern, and who gladly discuss religion.

Apart from the beard, they greet each other with "salaam alaikum".

In the Islamic Community of Serbia which has their mosques in the suburban areas of Belgrade say that there is no place for Wahhabi preaching nor there will be.

- There are individuals who deal in these things purely out of financial gain. We have alarmed the authorities about them and their preaching that has no connection whatsoever with the teaching of regular Islam - says Eledin Ašćerić, the secretary general of ICS.
