This island was known as the concentration camp during WWII, writes Daily Mail news agency.
The island is going to become a luxurious resort with a hotel, a night club, a spa center, and numerous restaurants.
This decision caused an outrage of the family members of the people who were imprisoned there while the island was occupied by fascists led by Benito Mussolini.
The goal of the Orascom company, which is the head company of the project is to turn the island into a paradise destination for rich people, who would enjoy in the view to the sea and palm trees, dinners on open terraces, and clubs where exclusive parties will be held.
Also, they will have a marina for their yachts.
The money invested will be around 15 million Euro, and the Government of Montenegro stated that there will be a chance for 200 people to get work.
The location of the island is at the entrance to the Boka Kotorska bay, near the Croatian border.
There is a fortress dominating the area built in 1853 under the Austro-Hungarian reign and it served the purpose of defending against attacks from the sea.
Nobody lives on this island anymore nor it is used for anything nowadays.
During the war, more than 2.000 people were stationed there, mostly anti-fascists from Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia.
Hundreds were tortured, wounded and killed, and according to the "Balkan insight", the youngest prisoner was an 8-day-old baby.
