What a STORY, what a MAN: Famous basketball player Žarko Paspalj saved 1500 gramophone records from the dump in Vinča!

Once one of the best basketball players of Europe, Žarko Paspalj - "Palja" is today a proud owner of more than 1500 gramophone records to which he came in a surprising manner - reports "Vice Srbija" news agency.

The records were thrown by the new management of the radio "Studio B", and Palja just took them from the dump.

To be precise - he took them from the dumpster in the place called Vinča.

Everything happened about a month ago when a good friend of his, a radio enthusiast living in New Zealand, came to Belgrade.

- He called me and said "Palja, there is something going on in Vinča with the archives of the "Studio B". They were privatized and there are records everywhere, old cassettes, a lot of things were thrown away from their storage unit. There were some people taking the records and transporting them to the junkyard. I took a package with maybe 200 records". I asked him about the total number of records, and he said - probably a few thousand - said Paspalj, adding that he has a big problem with throwing away records and things like that.

- It has already been 3 days, but it took my interest. I started asking my friends and the people I know and they told me that all the packages were driven to the recycling center at the place called Višnjica. I called them personally, they told me to come freely - continues Paspalj.

Žarko managed to save 1500 records which we took and placed in his garage.

- To tell you the truth, I still have not had the chance of leafing through all of that, but I saw there were many records of classical music in an impeccable state. Of course, there were many records of rock and pop music and that is wonderful - said Paspalj.
