One such story, which will hopefully have a similar epilogue in ten years, is about a young athlete, Jana Isailović from Sabac.

In recent days the eyes of world sports public were directed to Beijing where the World Championships in Athletics was held. We admired the skill and speed of Bolt, Van Niekerk, Jégo, as well as our own; Spanović, Perkovic, Tuke, Kolašinac. Behind all these top athletes and stars is dedication and will, but also dedicated coaches, parents and others who in some way helped them along the way from their muddy paths or dusty rooms to large halls and athletic stadiums.

Jana is a member of the Athletic Club "Cer", and even though she is only 11 years old, she has won numerous victories on "Cross RTS", "Cross Partizan" indoor meetings in Novi Sad, "rallies of friendship" in Sremska Mitrovica, the International street race Brcko and many other competitions.

Jana primarily prepares for short sprints but she is a great runner for longer sprint disciplines, as well as cross-country  and street racing.

Currently, in her generation there is no real competition, and she competes in the older competition among the younger pioneers (age 14 years).

Recently, in a rally in Sremska Mitrovica she ran two great results - 8.56 seconds in the 60 meters and 45.39 seconds in the 300 meters.

These days she is preparing for the upcoming championship of Serbia for young pioneers, set to be held in late September where she will run in the discipline of 60 meters.

Zika Opankovic, Jana's coach, passed his love for athletics onto many children of Sabac.

- She has an extraordinary potential. From an early age it was obvious that she was very talented in sports, especially athletics. She has excellent motor skills, basic speed, reflexes, and endurance. She is characterized by a strong will and likes to train and does not choose the conditions. What is very important is that Jana has great support from her parents who believe in her possibilities and in my work and dedication. I want to say that Jana manages to achieve all these successes with only 4 sessions per week. I claim it responsibly even though I know that many will not believe me, if we loss once, I expect top results next time around.

Addressing the conditions in which Jana and friends train, coach Opankovic is somewhat disappointed.

- Conditions in which we train in Sabac are below any level for any serious work. We train mostly in the woods Letnjikovac, near the town. Always outside, winter and summer and very often in the dark, in the rain and wind. There is no adequate room for winter operation, nor would we be able to accord it. Due to some circumstances our AK "Cer" (one of two athletic clubs in town) was left penniless by the city. Parents finance everything but it is a great burden for them too. When it comes to equipment, I improvise a lot and make some of it myself. It is difficult, but we do not give up. For Jana, and Xenia, Simon, Stefan, and a lot of good and talented children that I train.

Jana was 6 years old when she began to practice athletics. She chose the "queen of sports" when she won first place at a municipal competition for preschoolers.

In addition to numerous awards, some achievements are particularly dear to her.

- I am most proud of my personal record in the 300 meters that I ran in 45.39 seconds in August, at an athletic meeting in Sremska Mitrovica - says Jana for Telegraf.

The young and ambitious Sabac resident idolizes Usain Bolt, a Jamaican who is one of the most dominant athletes in the last few years.

Jana's unfulfilled dream, which is so close to accomplishment, is participating in some of the future Olympic Games bearing the uniform of Serbia.

She says she is already preparing for a performance at the European Championship for youth, which will be held next year in the Czech city of Brno.

We are waiting for Jana to grow up so that we can follow her in all major athletic competitions on TV, to cheer her on, be there for her, and for her to put a smile on our face. The young athlete is likely to develop into a quality athlete.
