WAS IT NECESSARY FOR A MAN TO BE DECAPITATED FOR US ALL TO AGREE? The tragedy of Tomislav Salopek showed us that Balkan people are still brothers!

At a time when the news that something inconceivable happened to Tomislav, we are no longer Serbs, Croats, Bosniaks, neither Ustashas or Chetnicks. We are once again what we have long forgotten - brothers

After 30 years of hatred, wars, killings, poverty, misery and blood, the Balkans are reunited. The reason for this - a tragedy of one of us, Tomislav Salopek, a father and a husband, which Islamic fanatics decapitated in Egypt.

They beheaded him. With a knife, someone who speaks Croatian / Serbian / Bosnian / Serbo-Croatian. They cut off the head of one of our own. Someone whose children speak the same language as the children of all of us, that watch the same cartoons as us, listen to the same music. Dream the same dreams. They decapitated that father.

Sadness and shock in Tomislav’s hometown: Neighbors can not believe that the Islamic State really killed him!

At a time when the news that something inconceivable happened to Tomislav, we are no longer Serbs, Croats, Bosniaks, neither Ustashas or Chetniks. We are once again what we have long forgotten - brothers. Siblings of Tomislav, one of our own, our man who was killed. For the first time since the establishment of the Internet, there was no argument. Only a sense of unity and a willingness to defend, protect Tomislav (or Miroslav, or Senad). To protect his children.

Unfortunately for all of us Balkanites, it seems that it takes a good slap in the face to make us realize how stupid, primitive, and senseless to kill, fight, argue, curse at each other - only because one is Orthodox, the other Catholic, and the third Muslim. Stubborn Balkan people only now realize that against them is a tremendous huge world, a world that consumes the small and devours them, as if they never existed. Even united we were little, and now ...

While we were shooting at each other, expelling each other, destroying each other's cities, those on the outside were working, enriching themselves, reproducing, evolving, progressing. The world has changed. A new world was born, nothing like the one that existed while we were killing one another. A more dangerous world, a dragon of a world.

And now we are faced with one of the many faces of the emerging dragon. A dragon in our backyard, that took one of us, killed forever the hearts of his little children and wife. And ISIS (the dragon) is not the only one we will meet. There are more, and they love to eat Balkanites for breakfast. These dragons come in various forms, only time will tell...

TELEGRAF EXCLUSIVE: We found Tomislav Salopek's brother IN SERBIA, here's what he said about the beheading of the Croat!

Maybe these encounters with dragons, which will be more frequent, will remind us why we were once brothers, why we loved each other, why we protected each other. Why every Serb still hates and suffers when they kill some Tomislav, and every Croat will be furious when they kill someone Miroslav. Why a Muslim would cry when they kill a Tomislav or Miroslav ... And why we once died for each other, ate the same polenta dreaming of freedom. And why, whenever someone bother us, we will clench our fist with and terrible anger, Miroslav will defend Tomislav, Tomislav Senada and Senad Miroslav.

WE ARE ALL TOMISLAV: This terrible fate could befall anyone who went out into the world to earn a living!

That's what we are like, what can we do. When it's nice, we hate each other and fight. When they start to kill us from the side, then we love and embrace. When we have freedom, we mess around with it. When we lose it ...

This is the Balkans, whatever it's like, this is how it remains. May it live long, there are worse places in the world.
