On the Petrovac road near the village of Bravsko 1995 in the territory of the Republic of Srpska, in the coming of Croatian "knights of the air" nine civilians were killed, including four children aged 6 to 13 years.
Darinka Drča (68) and her grandchildren Jovica Drča (6) and Mirjana Dubajić (21), brother and sister, Nevenka (11) and Zarko (9) Rajic, Krstan Vukovic (44) and his son Darko (13), Branko Stjelja ( 72) and his son Mirko (34), were killed on that fateful day, and fifty people were wounded, mostly children.
Dusan Drča lost a son Jovica and his mother Darinka along with his cousin Mirjana, while he spent a year in the hospital. In addition to the truck that they tried to escape with, Jovica was found with a burnt heart and the poor girl was decapitated.
- My husband was in his company's truck on the way to Serbia. When he heard that evil was coming, and turned back around. He and Darko, our son met in the column, and the children of her son's friends were with him in the truck. The bomb hit them directly. The bodies were dismembered and charred. After 15 days I was able to find a pathologist in Banja Luka that identified them - says Jovanka Vukovic, who coincidentally was not in the column with her daughter on that fateful day.
Today, Jovanka and Dusan Drča live in Apatin, and the horrors through which these families lived they can barely imagine.
Mirko Stjelja was found beheaded after shells hit his car, and his father's head was cut in half by a shrapnel that struck him in the forehead. Mirko's wife, died 20 days later after she gave birth in Serbia. The remains of Mirko and his father were found by the owner of a lot 6 years later, when he decided to remove the wreck.
According to the statements of villagers, the attack lasted only a minute or two, and when the situation calmed down, the others were dead, wounded, frightened children in flames and bloody people who were looking for each other.
