On the mountain Stolovi near Kraljevo, on top of Úšovice at an altitude of 1,375 meters, a cross of 33.5 meters and 40 tons will be erected.

The erection of the cross, which will cost over 100.000 euros, was given blessing from the diocese Žička in 2007. The plan is that the cross is illuminated at night, with electricity obtained from the sun or wind.

The cross will be 33.5 meters high, because Christ was that old when he was crucified and weighs 40 tons. It will be seen from many parts of Serbia including Jastrebac, Rudnik, Kopaonik...

- The current that will illuminate the cross will be captured from solar cells or mini-wind turbines that will be installed on top. It's hard to say how much it will cost, but certainly over 100,000 euros - says the priest Ljubinko Kostic, President of the erection of the cross, stressing that blessing was given from the newly appointed Bishop of Zica Justin.

According to him, the funds are raised exclusively from donations, and up until now, 7.000 euros have been spent to build access to the top, on which to carry out the work.

- In the next few days, concrete work and construction of the carrier will begin. It's hard to say when it will be completed because had there been no earthquake and floods in Kraljevo, the cross would have already been erected. Fundraising is going well and we expect that we will soon realize this project - says the priest.

The idea of ​​raising the cross came from the mountain society "Gvozdac" from Kraljevo eight years ago.

"Srbijašume"  gave the diocese Žička ceded land on the top of Úšovice, in order to set up the cross that will be facing Kraljevo. The base for the cross will be excavated to a depth of three meters.
