Nis resident Ana Virijevic (42) disappeared from her family home in the night between July 14 and 15. Her family fears she was kidnapped because she did not have a habit of leaving the house and her cell phone is turned off.

She lived in an apartment with her parents. The morning of July 15, they noticed she wasn't around, and that the apartment door was left open.

- We are sure that she did not go on a trip because she did not call anyone, nor did she bring any personal belongings with her - says her sister Sanja and adds that she is worried about her sister's safety.

- Ana was quite active on Facebook. I'm afraid that she came into contact with someone that lured her and is now holding her against her will. I have no other explanation for why she would not be heard from. We are very close, so I would know if she had some plans.

The Nis Police Department confirmed that Ana has been reported missing and that an announcement has been issued for a missing person.
