SHE RAN OVER THE BEST SERBIAN CYCLIST, AND THEN FLED THE SCENE: Jelena Eric (19) with a broken leg and endangered career!

Jelena Eric (19) from Kraljevo and  Serbian national team member in road cycling, was run over by a car while training on the Ibar highway and ended up with a broken ankle joint.

In addition to Jelena, the car ran down two other cyclists who were riding with her. The police caugh the runaway woman some fifty kilometres past the confluence.

- We started a training session of about 20 kilometers. We did not have to, because we had a day of rest, but we wanted to do a slow circle. As we drove into the line in Konarevo, one behind the other, I led the group when something unexpectedly lifted me in the air. I found myself on the ground and saw that the two guys with me were also on the ground. The car can run  us all down - says Jelena.

She adds that, when she got up, no one was there, and when she tried to get up she fell into a large puddle. A few minutes later, the car returned with two women.

- One asked us whether we were good, and when we said that we called the police, they fled, but we saw their licence plates. The policemen told us later that they had caught them by the confluence. The woman who was driving was under the influence of alcohol, she had about 1.4 blood alcohol level - said Jelena.
