Stefan Ilic (12) was found dead yesterday in the river Karas after a three-day search. He disappeared on Saturday in Banatska Subotica in the Bela Crkva, and was believed to have been kidnapped because his younger brother Uros said that he was kidnapped by three men.

- To experienced inspectors who worked on this case, it was clear that Uros was lying and trying to hide something terrible. Still, he kept to his story about the kidnapping until his brother's corpse was found - says one policeman for "Informer".

Uros invented the black "fiat" with KO (Kovin) licence plates, that, according to his story, Stefan was pushed in.

- On Sunday afternoon in the vicinity of Vrsac, a black "punto" was stopped, with a man who almost fully fit Uroš' description. He had a tattoo on his arm of a dragon, and in the rear seat wagon, sat a boy who strangely resembled the unfortunate Stefan. The innocent man was almost arrested. He was held until it was confirmed that the child in the back seat was his son and that he had a solid alibi for the time of Stefan's disappearance - says a police source.

The police say that for now it is not clear why Uros lied to inspectors, and whether his parents and other family members knew the truth.

If it is found that Uros Ilic is responsible for his brother's death, he can not be held criminally responsible. Criminal responsibility will be borne by his parents Stevo Gages  (45) and Gordana Ilic (42).
