Who of you would do this? The late Serbian couple leaves sick children with 700,000 euros!

The married couple from the Dalmatian Kosovo, Djura and Ilinka Trifunovic, who lived and worked in Canada for years, wished that after their death the Institute for Mother and Child in Belgrade receive a valuable donation of 700,000 euros.

- I am happy because their donations will help the youngest patients at the Institute for mother and child. My uncle and aunt had no children, which is why they desired to help such an institution - she says.

The Trifunovic couple moved to Canada after WW2 and reared livestock on a farm up until their retirement.

- My uncle was a great humanitarian throughout his life. He donated money to build a church in Hamilton, then to the Hilandar monastery at the time of the fire, and many other institutions.He was a great man and I am proud of him - says J.R.

V. D. Director of the Institute, Dr. Radoje Simic said that this noble gesture is very significant for their institution, and for the youngest patients that are treated there.

- We will reconstruct the third floor, where there is a Department of Immunology and Metabolism, as well as the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. We will renovate the unique the only laboratory in our country, for metabolic disorders, and purchase equipment for EEG recordings as well as an apparatus for arthroscopy - says Dr. Simic.
