First statement by Djuro Macut, who has been given mandate to form Serbia's new government

Djuro Macut, the candidate picked to form the new government of Serbia, said today that he will not talk about his moves from the position of prime minister before submitting his keynote address to the Serbian Assembly.

"There is no exact date for that yet, but it is certainly expected by the deadline defined by law, April 18," Fonet quoted Macut as saying, Blic is reporting..

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic announced yesterday that Djuro Macut is his choice for PM-designate.

Professor Dr. Djuro Macut was born in Belgrade, and received his bachelor's master's degrees from the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade. He attended specialist studies in reproductive medicine and biology at the University of Geneva and the World Health Organization.

He promoted Serbia's medicine and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade across the world, as one of the most recognized experts in the field of endocrinology.

From 2015 to 2023, he was a member of the Expert Council of the University Clinical Center of Serbia.

He is the deputy director of the Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases of the University Clinical Center of Serbia.

Macut is a full professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade and visiting professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Athens and at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Skopje.

He is the president of the Serbian Society for Reproductive Endocrinology, of the Executive Board of the European Endocrinological Society and the president of the Financial Committee of this society.

In addition to being the author of over 140 original works published in peer-reviewed international journals, Macut is an assistant editor-in-chief and a member of editorial boards of several international medical journals.

By decree of the president of the Republic of Serbia, in 2024 he was awarded the Order of the Star of Karadjordje, II degree - for his work and contributions to Serbia.
