Caretaker Prime Minister Milos Vucevic on Monday addressed the public.

"Once again, on behalf of the Government of Serbia and all citizens, I express my condolences to the families of the victims in Kocani in (North) Macedonia, to all citizens and the Government of Macedonia," said Vucevic.

He added that the North Macedonia authorities thanked the people and the Government of Serbia for their help and sympathy. According to the latest information from the authorities in that country, 14 people injured in a catastrophic fire that killed at least 59 are now receiving medical treatment in Serbia.

"They are in the Clinical Center in Nis, in the VMA (Military-Medical Academy) and the Clinical Center of Serbia (in Belgrade)," said Vucevic.

As for a protest rally in Belgrade held on Saturday, he said that a large number of people was present, and that there were no attacks on institutions.

"It is obvious that the competent authorities in Serbia reacted well preemptively," he said.

"The violence happened during the night, in Pionirski Park, 186 tractors were completely destroyed. The government will help compensate for the damage," Vucevic announced.

"The authorities did not use a sonic device (to disperse the protesters) and myself and the entire Government stand behind these words," Vucevic was explicit.

"Enough with the lies, the lies must stop. I expect the prosecution to check everything and to hold accountable those who lied and disturbed the public in Serbia. I guess it's clear to everyone that someone would have seen a sonic device if it was on the streets of Belgrade, it's not a pocket-size gadget! With so many phones around, I guess someone would have filmed it," he remarked.
