Ana Brnabic visits Stockholm: I asked them if there is debate in Sweden about lithium mining
President of the National Assembly of Serbia Ana Brnabic spoke from Stockholm, where she was on a one-day visit on Tuesday. Brnabic met with Sweden's parliament speaker, Andreas Norlen.
She said that her delegation asked for additional support from Sweden and the Nordic countries on the path to joining the EU and help in improving environmental protection.
"I asked them if there is a debate in Sweden about whether lithium should be mined. They looked at me perplexed. There is a debate, but about uranium mining. There is not a single voice against lithium mining," Brnabic stated.
She also referred to the events in Serbia, and protests scheduled for March 15.
"I want to condemn every kind of violence. What we saw in front of RTS and RTV was terrible. That's why I asked my hosts to have the meetings one right after another, so that I could return to the country as soon as possible. I think that hatred as an ideology will never win in Serbia and that we should all return to conversation," she said and added that "March 15 is an announcement of ever worsening violence."
The Serbian delegation included Vice-President of the National Assembly and Chair of the Committee on EU Integration Elvira Kovac.
