Vucic: Trump administration will not change its position regarding sanctions against NIS
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said last night that the administration of US President Donald Trump will not change its position on US sanctions against Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS), and added that this position could only change if there is a major agreement regarding the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
"I doubt this agreement is possible at this moment. And if you ask me when some kind of solution will happen, I think that will come when one side is much weaker and when that is so obvious that they will plea for an end to the conflict," Vucic said while appearing on TV Informer.
He added either Russia would have to break through many more front lines and advance much faster for that to happen, or the Ukrainians would have to launch a counteroffensive.
Asked if it is possible for a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to take place in Belgrade, Vucic said that it is possible, but not realistic.
"We offered it so that no one can say we didn't, but don't forget that it's not an easy option for Putin because he has to fly over NATO countries that he doesn't trust. It's not a problem for him to possibly go to Turkey because Russia borders with the Turkish airspace in different ways," added Vucic.
