A major incident took place in the National Assembly in Belgrade this morning.

According to early reports, "some deputies were throwing smoke grenades at each other"...

It was later reported that the incident happened after a deputy from the Green Left Front (ZLF), Radomir Lazovic, tried to reach the rostrum, but the Assembly security prevented him from doing that.

Another ZLF deputy, Biljana Djordjevic, followed Lazovic, after which there was pushing and shoving.

Opposition deputies then started activating smoke grenades, filling the Assembly hall with smoke.

The incident resulted in the suspension of the first spring session.
