Vucic: Burning of my effigy in Croatia shows how much good I have done for Serb people
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has commented on the fact that his effigy was burned for the second year in a row in Croatia by saying that he is proud of this because it shows that he has done good for Serbia and the Serb people.
"I'm very proud of that fact and I'm slowly entering Serbian history. This is the second year in a row that I'm the biggest culprit and they 'burn me' there. I hope they will for next two years as well. How much good must one have done for Serbia and for the Serb people as a whole," Vucic said during a tour of a farm in Zlot, as part of his visit to eastern Serbia.
According to the president, there is no better sign than that, showing that he has done a lot of good things for the Serb people.
"I am proud of that and I thank them endlessly for that. I wish the same result for next year. And I believe that I will succeed, which means that I will fight even more strongly and even harder for my Serb people and for the citizens of Serbia, so that (the Croats) will have enough reason to burn that effigy," said Vucic.
During the carnival in Kastel near Split an effigy representing President Vucic was set on fire, Dalmacija Danas reported on Saturday, adding that "tradition dictates" that at the end of each procession "the culprit for all problems of the past year is set on fire."
The Croatian portal also noted that "a will" was read during the burning.
