Taxi drivers from south arrested: They illegally transported migrants and charged them 10 times higher fares

The Public Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime ordered members of SPBOK, together with police officers from Nis and Vranje to arrest six persons suspected of facilitating illegal transit through the Republic of Serbia of 77 illegal migrants in the period from September 12, 2024 to February 26.

This criminal group operated by illegally transporting migrants in a number of taxis from Nis to Belgrade and from Presevo to Belgrade, from where they sought to illegally travel to the countries of the European Union.

One of the members of this organized criminal group is the founder of a taxi association, A.K.

This organized criminal group collected illegal monetary gains in the amount of 250 to 300 euros per group.

Those arrested are the group's organizer D.V. and members of A.K., P.K., T.S., M.I., and R.M.

They are suspected of committing the criminal offense of illegal crossing of the state border and people smuggling.

The suspects will be brought before the Public Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime along with a criminal complaint, after which they will be questioned.
