Office for Kosovo and Metohija reacts to incursion of Kurti's police in Kosovo

With today's violent incursion into social welfare centers in all four municipalities in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, Albin Kurti went directly after the most sensitive and vulnerable categories of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, users of various social benefits.

With this escalating move, Kurti continued his policy of violence against Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced.

This is about almost 9,000 beneficiaries of social welfare, child allowances, one-time benefits, whose needing help and care of another person, for whom these benefits mean life.

It is obvious that Kurti is nervous because of his debacle in the elections, but also the increasing criticism from the international community, especially the US, towards Kurti's regime and him personally. This attack is also aimed at thwarting the victory of the Serb List, with the clear aim of depriving it of one mandate. Apparently it was not enough for Kurti that he was counting the votes for 11 days and most openly manipulated the results, but now he is also using Serbian institutions to create additional confusion, the Office said, and added:

"By attacking the most socially sensitive institutions, Kurti is directly attacking the US, as well as the EU, which have clearly stated several times that the issue of Serbian institutions can only be resolved in the context of the formation of the ZSO (Community of Serb Municipalities), and not through violent and unilateral closures.

We especially stress that no user of social benefits paid by the state of Serbia will be left without them, nor will employees in the social welfare centers be left without their salaries. In addition, we will provide all kinds of legal assistance and other types of support to the employees of these institutions."
