President Vucic traveling to Serb Republic on February 13 for two-day visit
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic will on February 13 arrive for a two-day visit to the Serb Republic (RS, Serb entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina), on the occasion of the celebration of Sretenje, one of the biggest holidays of the Serb people, RS President Milorad Dodik has announced.
Sretenje is a major Orthodox religious feast, and Serbia's Statehood Day.
"President Vucic is coming to Banja Luka. After that, we from the RS will travel to Serbia and continue celebrating Sretenje. Stretenje is a holiday that was affirmed also in the All-Serb Assembly Declaration," Dodik told reporters in Banja Luka, after a session of the SNSD party's presidency.
He stressed that all other provisions from that document adopted last summer in Belgrade are being implemented.
"We are looking forward to celebrating all the holidays. We have been doing it for many years," said Dodik, Srna reported.
In June of last year, the All-Serb Assembly decided that Sretenje, February 15, the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia, should also be the Statehood Day of the RS and that the date should be celebrated together. That was the 29th conclusion of the Declaration.
This year, the RS will for the first time officially celebrate Sretenje as Statehood Day with a series of events under the slogan, "Assembly and Pride" - which reflects the basic values as the foundation of the statehood of the RS, calling for togetherness, unity and strength, and emphasizing the importance of preserving and strengthening the RS.
