Milos Vucevic explains for how long he will continue to serve as prime minister
On January 29, Milos Vucevic resigned as Serbia's prime minister, which initiated the process of forming a new government or calling early elections.
However, until the Serbian National Assembly formally confirms his resignation, talks between political partners are still ongoing.
Vucevic appeared on K1 TV and explained for how long he will formally continue to serve as prime minister.
"The moment the National Assembly notes my resignation, the 30-day period for electing a new government or scheduling elections begins. The period until that session, when the resignation of the prime minister and the government will be confirmed, is also used for talks between political partners. We cannot ignore the current social circumstances either - protests, attempts at dialogue that have so far been unsuccessful, as well as meeting the demands of students. The process is unstoppable and it is a matter of days when it will be implemented," said Vucevic.
Although there is speculation that he could return as prime minister, he dismissed that as an unrealistic scenario.
"It is legally and politically feasible, but I am almost certain it's not an option. I really don't see the logic of that - why would I resign, to immediately get a new mandate? If I wanted to reshuffle the government, I could have done it as prime minister. I don't think there is even a bit of a chance for something like that to happen," Vucevic stressed.
Asked if he sees himself in a new government as one of the ministers, Vucevic replied:
"Not in this government. I don't know if it will happen in the future, because that depends on the will of the citizens, on election results."
