President Aleksandar Vucic met today in Belgrade with Italian Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.

"We had a very good bilateral conversation about all important issues, from political ones that concern preserving peace and stability in the entire region and analyzing the situation on the geopolitical scene, to how to further improve our relations. We support Italy's initiatives in which Serbia will participate as a strategic partner," Vucic stated, and added:

"I am convinced that our cooperation will progress in all areas, as well as that the presence of all important Italian financial institutions here will contribute to our accelerated development and the creation of a better economic environment.

I am also grateful to Italy for providing security to our monasteries and shrines in Kosovo and Metohija.

It is also of great importance that we discussed regional issues and how to bring the region closer to the EU. We also spoke openly about the situation in our country. We will continue to defend the stability of our country and until someone threatens that stability with violence, we will be very flexible and very fair toward those who think differently and see the future of our country differently.

For me, it is extremely important that with Italy, as part of new geopolitical relations, we can develop special partnerships and friendships on many strategic issues. I am extremely grateful to Giorgia Meloni for her stance towards our country and I expect that as soon as we elect a new government, one of the first guests will be the prime minister of Italy.

Once again, dear friend Antonio Tajani, thank you very much for your sincere friendship and for always coming to Serbia, for fighting for Italian strategic interests, but also for the friendship with Serbia," Vucic stated.
