Prime Minister Milos Vucevic said last night that the ruling coalition is closer to deciding to form a new government, but that he cannot rule out early elections, and added that the final decision will be made in about ten days.

Vucevic stated that what follows is the scheduling of a session of the Assembly, where deputies must confirm his resignation, from which point the 30-day deadline starts running.

"I think we are closer to a new government, but I cannot rule out elections. Both options are on the table," Vucevic told Euronews.

He added that he cannot make predictions and that the decision will be known in about ten days - whether a new government will be formed or whether the political conditions are ripe for new elections.

Vucevic stated that his resignation was not aimed at causing elections and that not everyone in the SNS is happy that he resigned.

"Not everyone thinks I should have resigned. There was no standing ovation in the SNS," he said of the party he leads.

Vucevic added that he is now performing regular work within his mandate and that discussions inside the party have not yet started, but that this will follow in the coming days.
