Lavrov: Russia requested urgent consultations with Serbia over US sanctions against NIS

The Russian Federation is in constantly in touch with Serbia and has requested urgent consultations regarding the situation following the US sanctions against Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS), Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said today.

"The US and the EU are twisting Serbia's arm, demanding that it betrays Russia," Lavrov said during his annual press conference, RIA Novosti reported.
According to Lavrov, the administration of the outgoing US President Joseph Biden wants to "spite both Serbia, and the administration of Donald Trump."
