Drama on the Sava: Raft comes loose, floats uncontrollably down the river, with a man on board

Early this morning, members of the Gendarmerie Diving Unit managed to "tame" a raft that came loose on the Sava River in Obrenovac.

According to unofficial information, this was a raft-house measuring 10 by 15 meters.

Telegarf.rs has learned that on its way to Baric, the vessel damaged several others. Fortunately, members of the Gendarmerie, using three boats, were successful in bringing the raft to the river bank.

No one was injured in the incident.

Details of the drama

We have learned that the police received a report early this morning that a raft, with one man on it, detached and was moving uncontrollably downstream, in the middle of the river.

Around 8:30 am, the current pushed it closer to the bank, the person was evacuated, but the raft continued to move.

Around 9:40 am members of the Gendarmerie and the owner of the raft managed to bring it under control.

During its uncontrolled movement, several other rafts were damaged.
