Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met today with Russian Ambassador Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko, with whom he discussed, among other things, possible challenges in the coming year, the situation in the Autonomous Province Kosovo and Metohija, and that around the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS).

In a post on Instagram, Vucic stressed that he had a good meeting with Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko, during which they discussed important topics concerning bilateral relations and cooperation between Serbia and the Russian Federation, and also exchanged opinions about developments around the world and possible new challenges in the coming year.

"The ambassador handed me the New Year's and Christmas greetings from president Putin, and I reciprocated with good wishes for the well-being and prosperity of the citizens of the Russian Federation, as well as for the coming year to bring an end to all conflicts and the long-awaited peace for everyone," Vucic posted on the "buducnostsrbijeav" account.

He also stated that one of the key issues discussed today was NIS and potential difficulties that Serbia may face in case of (US) sanctions against that company.

Vucic briefed Botsan-Kharchenko in more detail about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija and reiterated that Pristina regime's open aspirations to ethnically cleanse Kosovo of Serbs are leading to even greater fear and uncertainty among the Serb people.

"I repeated that Serbia continues to fight to preserve peace and stability in the region, but I also emphasized the need for a final solution to these long-standing challenges," wrote Vucic.
